Inside new Nottingham city centre shop aiming to be 'home of creatives'

A brand new Nottingham city centre shop aiming to be the 'home of creatives' has opened. Wex Photo Video opened its newest branch on Carrington Street, Nottingham city centre on Friday, June 23.

The store opened with an event which featured Wex's CEO Louis Wahl cutting a ceremonial ribbon, followed by guest talks from award-winning photographers Daniel Etter and Tom Oldham and discounted product offers. The new shop became the camera retailer's 14th store in the UK, according to its website.

Amie Marshall, who is the manager of the new store, previously said: "After a string of store closures within recent years in Nottingham, I can imagine the news of new stores opening within the city would excite the community.

"Here at Wex, we strive to support photographers and filmmakers at every part of their journey. Our incredibly talented and committed staff have earned us the title of UK’s most trusted retailer, and we think that the creatives of Nottingham will definitely find a home in our new store."

Established in 1997, Wex Photo Video (previously called Wex Photographic and Warehouse Express) says it has helped more than a million photographers and videographers achieve their goals. It also claims to have the largest range of any UK photo and video retailer, with more than 20,000 products.

Carrington Street has significantly altered over the last few years, most notably with the demolition of the Broadmarsh shopping centre and the construction of the Broadmarsh bus station and library at the end of the street. A boutique gym was recently set up as well as a new cake shop, adding to the independent businesses and better known brands along the street.
