These incredible images show an abandoned funeral home that once belonged to a Black Civil Rights campaigner who stood alongside Martin Luther King Jr.
Images from the Alabama location show expensive coffins left open and hearses that are past their prime.
One image shows a black Cadillac hearse with a crushed blue velvet interior rotting away exposed to the elements.
Another shot shows the mortician's area complete with make-up and flesh restorer for applying to bodies that would have open caskets.
Other images show the coffin showroom displaying different kinds of caskets in different colours.
These images were captured by urban explorer Leland Kent known by his online alias Abandoned Southeast.
This funeral home was once prosperous thanks to its owner being a well-known local politician who fought for Civil Rights alongside Martin Luther King Jr., Leland said.
The owner fell ill and in 2017 the funeral home was closed, and it has remained vacant ever since.
Lelan wrote in his blog: "First opening in 1989, this nearly 4,000-square-foot funeral home featured a cosy little chapel, a small visitation room, a casket display room, and a large embalming room," said Leland on his blog.
"During its years of operation, the funeral home was quite successful, mainly due to being one of only three funeral homes in the area.
"The owner of the funeral home was also a reverend as well as a funeral director, which can be common with small family-operated funeral homes.
"It also helped that the owner was very well known and respected in the local community, as he was a one-time politician and had even fought for Civil Rights in the early 1960s, most notably alongside Martin Luther King, Jr.
"It would have been a predominantly African American funeral home until its closure several years ago.
"Although the owner knew Martin Luther King Jr and worked alongside him, I am unsure if he ever visited this particular funeral home. I could not find any records to support that.
"As the owner got older, his health problems began to plague him, and it was only a matter of time before he would not be able to continue to perform funeral services and service families and loves ones.
"By 2017, the funeral home had permanently closed and was placed for sale. As of 2022, the once-successful funeral home remains vacant and in disrepair."
