Inside Kate Middleton's school holiday activities with George, Charlotte and Louis

The Prince and Princess of Wales have been notably absent from royal duties over the past week - and it is all down to their children.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are all on their Easter holidays from Lambrook School meaning Prince William and Kate are enjoying precious family time together with them.

It's unknown exactly where the family of five have been spending their time over the last week - although it hasn't been Adelaide Cottage, their new Windsor home, meaning there was no meet-up with Prince Harry, who was recently on a surprise visit to the UK.

They may have decided to go abroad after spending part of their Easter holiday last year skiing in France. Or they might have just decamped to their Norfolk country home Anmer Hall for a private break.

But wherever they are, it seems Kate knows exactly how to keep her kids occupied - without resorting to screen time too much...

Time in the great outdoors

One thing we can be sure of is that William, Kate and the kids love nothing better than to spend time outside in nature.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl once told OK! : "Kate has been interested in how outdoor learning can benefit children. She got to meet children who had lessons outside and ask how they enjoyed it. She saw the benefit first-hand.

"Kate is aware of screen time and tries to limit the children being exposed to too much. When the children have a break, she takes them outside, come rain or shine.

“She wants them to get fresh air and be in nature. She loves to pick vegetables with them in the gardens. If they are learning about rivers or the sea, she and William try to incorporate that into their walks."

In fact, in 2021 to mark William and Kate's 10th wedding anniversary, the couple shared a family video that gave fans a glimpse of their outdoorsy life.

It showed them hiking in sand dunes, playing chase in the garden, Charlotte and Louis spinning on an incredible see-saw and the family toasting marshmallows around a fire.

Meanwhile a new picture released last month to mark Mother's Day showed Kate and her three children climbing a tree.

Caring for animals

Going hand-in-hand with spending time outdoors is spending time with animals, especially the family dog, Orla the black spaniel.

And if the Waleses have been spending time at Anmer Hall, this is exactly what they will have been doing, according to royal expert Ingrid Seward.

She told the Mirror: "It is the children's half term and a rare opportunity for them all to be together in their Norfolk home.

"They kept Anmer Hall for just such occasions. The children have their ponies and pets there and they have the freedom to have fun on the King's Norfolk estate."

Plenty of sports

Kate is known for her sporty nature so it is no surprise that George, Charlotte and Louis also like to throw themselves into sports.

And one sport that certainly seems to have caught George and Louis' imaginations is rugby.

Kate herself is the patron of the English Rugby Football Union and has spoken before of playing the game with her sons.

In January while at a reception for the England Wheelchair Rugby League squad she revealed that Louis is "rugby mad".

Asked whether her own children play the sport, the mother-of-three said: “We’re always slightly competitive with each other. They all love sport and Louis is mad about rugby.

“They are at an age where they just love running around”.

She also revealed she uses the trampoline to stay fit, telling one of the players who asked if she went to the gym: “It’s running around after the children - I do it all, whenever I can squeeze in exercise I do, even jumping on the trampoline with my children before school.”

Meanwhile, Kate once let slip how she'd played rugby with oldest George when they attended an England v Wales match last year.

Kate revealed how George is learning to start playing the sport at school and she explained: "He has all the kit."

After sharing that he's been learning how to tackle, he turned to his mum and cheekily quipped: "But I haven't tackled you yet!"

Kate replied, laughing: "Yes you have!"

Creative activities

But it's not all sports and outdoor pursuits, it seems Kate and the kids also love to get creative.

The princess has often spoken about baking with the children - something they got stuck into ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations last year.

They were pictured stirring cake mix and decorating cupcakes ahead of them being served at a street party in Cardiff.

Meanwhile, it has been previously reported that Kate and the kids love a trip to a pottery painting attraction in King's Lynn near Anmer Hall.

One fellow customer at the shop, where children can paint the likes of mugs and bowls, once revealed on Instagram : "Spent the afternoon pottery painting, so much fun! Kate Middleton, Prince George, Charlotte & Louis were also here on Saturday!"
