A Place In The Sun presenter Jonnie Irwin is being supported by his beloved family after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
The father-of-three, 48, recently shared the heartbreaking admission that he 'doesn't know how long' he has left to live, after first being diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2020, which has since spread to his brain.
Speaking alongside his wife Jessica Holmes, the TV star explained how he is trying to stay positive as he lives with cancer and shared how he has set 'little markers' - things he wants to be around for.
Jonnie and Jessica, 40, tied the knot in September 2016 and have since gone on to welcome three children into the world together - Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.
Discussing his terminal diagnosis and death, Jonnie told Hello! magazine : "I'm doing everything I can to hold that day off for as long as possible. I owe that to Jess and our boys. Some people in my position have bucket lists, but I just want us to do as much as we can as a family."
Over the years, the property expert has shared snippets of his and Jessica's blissful family life with their young children his 40,200 followers on Instagram.
Alongside snaps of the star filming TV projects, Jonnie's Instagram page is filled with adorable images of his beloved wife and his children enjoying holidays together and spending time together in their home located in the Hertfordshire town of Berkhamsted.
"I love working on location but the downside is I miss some family moments," Jonnie captioned a snap of Jessica and two of their children dressed in Tottenham Hotspurs onesies last month.
"Got this through this morning with the extra pick me up of seeing the twins in their new onesies. Almost makes losing to them on Sunday palatable. #family #coys #twins #spursfamily."
Posting on his Instagram last year, shortly after welcoming his twins, Jonnie wrote: "Twenty five hours of travelling to get back to the family for a couple of precious days.
"To be honest the work days are far from a walk in the park at the moment but it relieves a bit of the guilt I feel from leaving their mum on her own to hold the fort. Plus times with this fella are rarely anything but good ones."
When he isn't away on location, Jonnie throws himself into daddy duties at his family home.
Sharing a snap of himself on a bike with one of his sons earlier this year, the presenter told his Instagram followers: "The best way to start the day. #nurseryrun."
Reflecting on raising three young children in July this year, Jonnie admitted it's easy to forget how hard being a working parent can be at times as he shared a snap of his kids looking angelic.
"The sleep deprivation and the tonnes of funky nappies are long forgotten when they’re like this. As Rex would say- my brudders!" Jonnie wrote on Instagram as he shared one of his many proud dad posts.
The star also uses social media to pay tribute to his wife Jessica and share snippets of their date nights and romantic outings together without their children.
"First time away together without nippers for around 2 years. We are making the most of it," Jonnie proudly captioned a collection of pictures taken when he and Jessica enjoyed a day at the races together last year.
The Escape To The Country presenter decided to go public with the tragic news of his terminal diagnosis in order to get the 'monkey off my back'.
Jonnie was filming in Italy when he first realised something might be wrong with his health. In August 2020 he had an episode of blurry vision whilst he was driving - with subsequent tests confirming he had developed lung cancer, which had spread to his brain.
Alongside going public with his diagnosis, Jonnie is also encouraging others to take out life insurance.
He said in his recent interview: "That has helped so much and when I leave this planet, I’ll do so knowing Jess and the boys are in a house that is fully paid off and there’s a bit of money in the bank for them to live off."
