Johnny Depp 's friendship with late musician Jeff Beck dates back several years, with them having released music and toured together since meeting almost six years ago.
The actor, 59, has been mentioned in tributes to the late guitarist - who it's been announced passed away this week, aged 78, after "suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis."
Following the news, fans have paid tribute and some having expressed condolences to Johnny - who had previously been described as "musical soulmates" with Jeff.
The two musicians first met backstage at a concert in 2017, with Jeff - whose career saw him win numerous Grammy Awards - having discussed it whilst at a concert last year.
Introducing his pal during a gig, Beck told the crowd: "He came knocking on my dressing room door about five years ago and we haven't stopped laughing since".
Over the years since being introduced, the pair have worked on music together and in 2020 released their first collaboration - a cover of John Lennon's song Isolation.
The pair - who were described as "musical soulmates" - went on to release an album together, titled 18. The project, released last year, features covers and original songs.
Jeff and Johnny have also performed together, including at a charity festival organised by Eric Clapton in 2019. They took to the stage to perform a rendition of Isolation.
They most recently performed together last year, with Johnny having joined Jeff on his UK tour. This included at gigs in Gateshead, Sheffield, London and other locations.
It was whilst he was in the UK that Johnny's court case against ex-wife Amber Heard, 36, reached a verdict. He wasn't in court for the jury's verdict, which was in the US.
They later toured other countries together. It was whilst on tour in Italy that Johnny spoke about Jeff and his wife Sandra Beck as part of a short film for Hollywood Authentic.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star said: "There's a couple who very much helped to keep me alive and sane and happy through the weirdness and that's Jeff and Sandra".
