Inside Huw Edwards' incredible 3st weight loss journey before the Coronation

News presenter Huw Edwards thoroughly impressed his fans a few years back when he adopted a new fitness regime, resulting in him losing an incredible three stone. And the 61-year-old admitted that it was a race against the clock to look his best again for the King's Coronation, during which the eyes of the world were on the UK.

Huw had a key role to play in the event's coverage, and so wanted to look and feel as strong as he did in 2019 amid his diet and exercise peak. Speaking ahead of the monumental ceremony, the presenter told The Mirror: "I am going to have to lose a stone no question. I am just a bit too tight around the waist."

He added: "So maybe my boxing workouts will now have to go up to two a week… I am now down to one a week, as well as one run a week."

Previously, the news presenter kept his fans up to date with his fitness via Instagram, where he'd share posts of himself training with former boxer Clinton McKenzie.

His three-stone weight loss, which transformed him into an 'Insta-hunk', was down to a simple yet efficient routine - despite admitting he was "one of those people who can put on weight simply by looking at a Twix".

Boxing played a vital part in Huw's three-stone weight loss, even just doing two sessions per week. The presenter also undergoes suspension training, which uses gravity and your body weight to work the muscles.

"The boxing training is going pretty well. I do my boxing two or three times a week," he previously told The Mirror. "I do TRX too, but only once a week in the park otherwise people will think I am going completely mad."

After falling in love with his new frame, the father-of-five told The Sun: "I feel better than I have for years and it's great getting so many compliments." Alongside his desire to lose weight, Huw said he was also fully focused on his work duties but the nerves were kicking in ahead of the Coronation.

Speaking at the RTS Awards, he said: "I'm terrified about the Coronation but I've done things before and you have got to tell yourself it is going to be all right. The moment you get slightly carried away with worrying, that is when your system starts to work up, so you have to calm down," he added.
