Inside huge new £5million Home Bargains store in Belle Vale

A huge new £5million Home Bargains store is now open in Belle Vale.

The beloved retailer, which was founded in Liverpool in 1976, is famed for its extensive line-up of food, home décor supplies and accessories, household essentials, DIY products, furniture, and more.

Now, it's added another venue to an already impressive list of store locations, with a vast new site on Childwall Valley Road, Belle Vale. The new shop opened on Saturday, April 15 2023.

As the cost of living crisis rages on, it's a positive addition to the retail sector in the city, and has created 51 new jobs. In total, it will employ 55 team members, including some staff and management who will be transferring from local stores.

The new Childwall Valley Road store will join more than 575 outlets across the UK. Opening approximately 50 stores a year, Home Bargains is bucking current trends in the industry.

Stephanie O'Flaherty is the new Childwall Valley Road store manager. After joining the business in November 2013, she has worked in several stores across Liverpool, going from a team member in the Wavertree store, to lead sales and then supervisor.

She transferred to Old Swan, then Prescot, and has accepted the role as store manager after being deputy manager in Prescot for three and a half years. Stephanie said: "This has been such an exciting challenge and an honour to be able to open a brand-new store; watching it grow from an empty shell into a fully functioning store has been amazing."

The 24,154 sq. ft store, which formerly housed The Bridge Inn, will offer shoppers a range of products, including homeware items; health and beauty essentials; sweets, snacks and drinks; as well as fresh and frozen food.

The store will also include a bakery, and will be open from 8am until 8pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 10am until 4pm on Sundays.

Stephanie added: "Childwall Valley Road will be a great location for us, and we're proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices."

Home Bargains will also be donating £2,000 to local charity, Netherley Youth & Community Initiative, which aims to provide an informal, friendly, and safe environment where young people can socialise while developing their skills and learning.

They aim to deliver social welfare recreation, educational opportunities, and leisure provisions in the community to improve the quality of living for those in Netherley, with the money donated going towards the initiative’s food bank.

Gemma Williams, deputy manager at Netherley Youth & Community Initiative, said: "This generous donation will greatly impact our community food pantry in keeping our supplies stocked each week, ensuring families in the area have a variety of options when coming for their weekly shop."

The new Home Bargains store is based at 162 Childwall Valley Road, Liverpool, L25 2PL.
