Inside home of former RTE boss on sale for whopping €3.3million

The home of a former RTE Boss has gone on sale for the eye-watering price of €3.3 million.

George Waters was RTE director general between 1978 and 1985 and lived in the south Dublin property with his wife Mary until he passed away aged 90 last November.

The house was built by the couple in 2003 after their return from Switzerland, where they lived for a number of years, hence the name Châteauneuf.

George's wife Mary is now looking to sell the house as she hopes to downsize, the Irish Times reports.

The luxury 5,060 square-foot property has four bedrooms and five bathrooms - one with a Jacuzzi bath, and its very own cinema room.

It is located in the leafy suburb of Foxrock and sits tucked away in quiet cul de sac off Torquay Road, near Foxrock village.

The large entrance hallway features impressively high ceilings, which reach up to nearly six metres at their highest, and is flooded in natural light from a glass block wall.

On the ground floor, the kitchen/breakfast/family room is an open plan living space with granite floor, granite worktops and French doors leading onto the garden.

The cinema room is located behind a sliding door from the family room, kitted out with a 4K projector and comfy armchairs and a red velvet curtain around the screen.

The master bedroom upstairs is a spacious double room with bay windows, and ensuite with a walk-in shower and jacuzzi bath, as well as a large walk-in wardrobe. It also has it's own master living area attached with its own kitchenette and sink.

There are three other large double bedrooms upstairs, each with their own ensuite.

Outside, the property boasts a beautifully landscaped walled garden sitting on approximately one third of an acre. The garden includes an abstract Michael Warren sculpture and a patio area out the back with decking, perfect for Al fresco dining.
