Any fan of noughties children's TV show, Balamory, will be delighted to discover that they can visit one of the filming locations without straying too far from Edinburgh.
While much of the filming was done in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, the iconic scenes at Archie's pink-bricked home were filmed in East Lothian.
Even more excitingly, the pink castle is very real, very pink and you can actually stay overnight there!
The pink walls and tower are still standing today and if you've always dreamed of being Archie the Inventor, you can experience a taste of his lifestyle by staying in Fenton Tower.
Here's everything you need to know:
What's included in a room

The Tower contains various rooms, all with their own unique histories.
On the ground floor, you'll first find the grand Dining Room and cozy Great Hall. They're both communal spaces where you can relax during your stay in the Tower.
As you climb the stairs, you'll get to the private rooms of the Tower. Each one has its own name and is decorated in its own style, so no two stays are ever the same.
The two grandest rooms are certainly the suites: Erskine and Garret.
Erskine, the larger of the two offers a super king-size bed and a free-standing French copper bath. It perfectly combines traditional elegance with modern comforts.
Garret, the slightly smaller suite, has its own charm with a private outdoor space on the battlements. Stand looking out over the view and see how many Balamory lines you can remember before you get too cold!
Prices per room per night start from £225.00 off-peak and £350.00 during the peak season. This includes bed and breakfast in the dining room each morning.
How to book
You can book either a private room or suite or reserve the entire tower for your own personal use.
There is also the nearby Lodge, which can be booked for extra accommodation, depending on your needs.
Reservations should be done via the website, through the contact form that you can find here.
Why was it used for Balamory?
Although it's a delight to stay in for its own right, there's also plenty of history to the old castle.

Arguably most interestingly, it's one of the only filming Balamory locations outside of the Isle of Mull.
The unusual pink walls of the castle made it the ideal location for pink-loving Archie the Inventor to make his home.
As it is today, Fenton Tower is not quite the same vibrant shade of pink as it was in the show.
However, the faded pastel walls do still show a hint of what we saw on our screens.
If you're especially keen to do a Balamory-themed trip to Fenton Tower, reach out to the team managing the castle and they're happy to answer more questions and make special arrangements where possible.
