Inside Darius' death apartment as mystery deepens over why he was in Minnesota

Darius Campbell Danesh 's sudden death aged 41 shocked the world.

As further details emerged of the singer's lavish US lifestyle, fans were left asking why the Pop Idol singer was found dead in a quiet southern Minnesota city, famed for its hospital treatment, and not LA where he was living just months earlier.

As mystery deepens over the Colourblind singer's death, fans discovered his Rochester apartment block was directly across from St Mary’s May Clinic Hospital – a care facility specialising in cancer, cardiology and heart surgery.

The clinic also attracts the best doctors in the world, who are known to treat complex, rare and undiagnosed health issues.

The Berkman apartments offer both short-term and longterm stays as they function as both a hotel and residence. They a range of apartments from one bed and one bath residences to three bed and three bath flats.

In fact, the block is known to house outpatients and family members of patients of the hospital which offers treatment for epilepsy, neurosurgery and a rehabilitation unit.

The non-profit hospital is ranked the best hospital in the US and is consistently rated among the top five medical facilities in the world.

Previous patients at the hospital include The Dalai Lama, Muhammad Ali and former US Presidents Ronal Reagan and George H W Bush. However, it is not known if Darius was being treated at the world-famous facility.

The clinic also has two other large facilities in Florida and Arizona as well as a number of smaller facilities across the US.

The Pop Idol star's death is not being treated as suspicious as a spokesperson said the police found "no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances". Darius' cause of death is currently unknown.

Darius, who's final days have been revealed, had been staying at the Berkman apartments, which describes itself as being "directly across from St Mary’s Hospital".

A number of amenities are on offer at the modern apartment block including a swimming pool, yoga studio and fitness centre, a shop, package hub and even a dog spa.

Situated near the Berkman is the Mayo Clinic hospital, a listed mansion, an art centre and a nature centre and prides itself in "stress-free living".

A description on the website reads: "The Berkman is Rochester, Minnesota’s premier address for elegant short term & long-term furnished suites and residential living. With best-in-class amenities, exceptional service, and a prime location, we offer everything you need for a stress-free visit or living!"

The apartment block has a number of shining reviews, with it being rated "excellent" on Trip Advisor.

It costs anywhere between $1,464 to $7,051 per month to rent an apartment at the Berkman, depending on the type of apartment leased.

Some apartments also feature walk-in wardrobes, smart living features and a patio or balcony.

Darius was found unresponsive in bed at his apartment on August 11. A police dispatch call, obtained by The Sun, reveals a call was placed at 11.53am when a 'medical' team was requested for a 'possible deceased' person.

A few moments later, another call came through from an operator saying: "No need for them to respond. We'll be waiting for [Rochester Police Department] to arrive on the scene. We'll secure the residence."

The Public Information Officer for the Rochester Police Department told the publication: "Officers responded to a deceased person call at 11.53am on August 11.

"The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified the person as Darius Campbell, age 41.

Darius was reportedly in "good spirits" and his "happy usual self" before his passing, with the Colourblind singer said to be planning a Pop Idol comeback tour with his fellow co-stars, too.

He was set for a potential return to the UK in just a few weeks for the rumoured Pop Idol reunion special being made by Thames TV, an insider told The Sun.

"The investigation into the cause of his death is still pending," the statement concluded.

Following the sad news of his death, a number of Darius' celebrity pals have paid tribute to the Colourblind singer.

Former Pop Idol hosts Ant and Dec tweeted: "We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Darius Campbell Danesh at such a tragically young age.

"We had many laughs with him on his Pop Idol journey. Our hearts go out to his lovely family. #RIP."

While former Pop Idol judge Pete Waterman appeared on GMB to pay tribute to the star, calling him a "true, true gentleman in every sense of the word".

He added: "He had a record career, then he was on the stage, then he took up opera, then he was making films. He was all over the place. It was quite incredible and he really was a fabulous person."
