Inside Danilo to Rangers transfer as Feyenoord boss reveals 'good transfer fee'

Feyenoord boss Arne Slot insists he's delighted to get a 'good transfer fee' from Rangers for Danilo because the Brazilian was a bit-part player as the season progressed.

Rangers have agreed a fee to sign the winger, believed to be around the £5 million mark, with the player expected to be unveiled imminently.

Danilo faded after an explosive start to the season at Feyenoord and was used as a sub towards the end of the season by Slot.

The last game he started for the Rotterdam side was in a 2-1 win against Volendam in March and he was then used off the bench for 12 games in a row at the end of his time at the club in the Netherlands.

And Slot has put a brave face on his departure to Glasgow while acknowledging his role in their Eredivisie triumph.

He pointed out: "I do not know if 'leave' is the right word for him, because we did not loan him out or give him away.

"For Danilo, we got a good transfer fee.

"This is a player who was playing less and less in the second half of the season.

"So then it is always a consideration whether that player can stay in that role for another season or whether he has a problem with that.

"If a club comes along, then that's an interesting opportunity for him.

"For us, we were only going to be interested in selling him if there was a transfer fee that did justice to his qualities.

"And of course from my side, you then ask if you can reinvest that, because his contribution to the title was very big."

The Rangers Review team is taking the hugely-popular morning briefing LIVE at New Edmiston House on July 28.
