Inside creepy 1940s funeral home some say is haunted - with 'dried blood' in buckets

An urban explorer has uncovered an abandoned funeral home that is seemingly so creepy it simply must be haunted - as it even has dried human blood clinging to discarded buckets inside.

Sonny, 25, recently discovered the deserted facility and shared his findings on TikTok after he spent three hours delving into the building's eerie and unsettling history.

The urban explorer, who is from the US, found several creepy remnants of the property's past inside the building, including an untouched embalming room that still contained a stretcher that was laid out and ready for its next guest.

Chairs and show caskets were still on display in the lobby upstairs, as well as an entire kitchen that was still perfectly intact, while other items littered around included 1970s radios, prop heads, and religious items such as crosses.

Speaking about his experience in the funeral home, Sonny - who did not want to share the location of the property so as to prevent any potential vandalism - said: “The nature of decay here was some of the best I’d ever seen and the most haunting for sure. Cobwebs were almost everywhere and couches for patrons looked like they were dissolving into nothing.

“So much was left behind here and I honestly couldn’t believe it. Seeing [upstairs] really took me back in time, which was super unexpected.

“There was lots of black mould and you could visibly see dust flying around – definitely a place you don’t want to be in without a mask.”

Sonny's exploration video - which was posted on his account, @xplorewithsonny - has over 5.5 million views and over 267,000 likes, but there's one thing viewers can't seem to move on from when they watch the creepy footage - the image of a bucket with blood-like residue inside.

One commenter said: “Freaky that it’s straight-up someone’s blood in that bucket."

While another wrote: "Please tell me the bucket with blood was real."

Other commenters were convinced the funeral home must be haunted - as they said the spirits of those who were embalmed at the property "haven't left".

Based on death records, Sonny estimates that the building was last in use in 1947 – but says that the home was abandoned in the 2000s.

Although it’s unclear why, it’s believed that after the funeral director passed away there was no family to take over the business which ultimately led to its closure.

Sonny also revealed that while he didn't begin his exploration with the goal of finding a haunted building, he couldn't deny the eerie atmosphere and "sense of sadness" that seemed to linger.

He said: “From the moment we stepped inside, I felt completely on edge - it was truly one-of-a-kind. I thought someone was going to come out of the darkness and try to grab me.

“You could feel a sense of sadness in the air and just an overall depressing vibe. I wish I brought my paranormal investigation gear because I would have definitely captured something here.”

The explorer said he's often asked to share the locations of his creepy finds, but he insisted he'd rather keep them private - as sharing their location can sometimes do more harm than good.

He explained: “Unfortunately, giving out locations can lead to them becoming vandalised and eventually torn down.

“Exploring locations like an abandoned funeral home is amazing, as it makes me feel like I’m in a movie or video game. It’s always interesting to see a different side of things, or behind the scenes that people don’t normally get to experience.

“Just remember if you want to start doing this, be aware of the risks and stay safe. Most importantly, always get out and explore more.”
