Inside Central Station: Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrated in final episode of popular Glasgow BBC show

Popular BBC One Scotland show Inside Central Station is now drawing to a steady close, and Glasgow celebrates the reign of Queen Elizabeth II in this final instalment.

The series, delving into the behind-the-scenes of Glasgow's busiest train station, Central Station, will end in a couple of weeks time.

The programme synopsis states: "It’s the last episode of the series of Inside Central Station and the engineering works on the Argyll Line are completed.

"General manager, Kat and staff at Anderston Station and Glasgow Low Level work hard against the clock to reopen but not without some final hurdles. Tour guide, Paul shows journalist and historian, Norrie around the recently cleared Victorian platform and shares his ambitions of future plans for the space.

"He then describes what it would have been like in that era, including the dangers, particularly to females travelling alone in the dimly lit platforms. This made way for the ladies only waiting area, a safe space, close to the underground platform.

"Outside of the station, apprentices Naomi and Nicole are put to the test on a nightshift at Polmadie working on maintenance on the overhead lines.

"Back on the concourse, a special tea party is organised by station manager, Drew and guide, Jackie to celebrate the Queens Jubilee along with 20 specially invited veterans.

"Finally, tour guides, Paul and Jackie go on a trip to Bo'ness to the Museum of Scottish Railways to put in motion their big plans for the future of the tours."

The final episode of Inside Central Station will air on Monday, October 24 at 8pm on BBC One Scotland. The rest of the series is available for catch-up on BBC iPlayer.
