Inside British Airway's jet Negus 747 that has been turned into a unique party venue

Have you ever wanted to have a full-blown party on a plane? Well now you really can. A decommissioned British Airways jet Negus 747 has been turned into an exclusive party venue that can be booked for private events, including weddings.

Back in 2020, British Airways announced the retirement of its 747 fleet, which because of Covid, was earlier than originally planned. Saved from the scrap heap, the Negus 747 was bought by a private airport on the Wiltshire, reports Wiltshire Live.

Not only did the airport’s chief executive preserve the history of the plane, she also made it a fun place to use. And it looks incredible - still in keeping with the plane’s original function, with seating taking up one part, while also showcasing a new dance floor and bar.

The star of the show for me was the jet's lower deck (Reach plc)

Since remodelling, it can house around 220 guests, although originally it would have seated nearer 300 passengers. It encompasses two decks, with the top one kept pretty much as it was during Negus' career, and lower- the transformed party area.

Jumping on board, you can tell straight away that it has been a complete passion project, for those behind it. What seemed clear to me was that it has been carefully and considerately transformed to make sure that not only is there adequate room for activities, but you still know you are on board a plane.

In other words, it is absolutely equal parts 'party' and 'plane'. The remodel beautifully showcases the iconic aircraft's history, with some areas completely intact, including the cockpit.

And you can still enjoy a drink in the aircraft's comfy seats, choosing from first class, business class or economy. The star of the show is the jet's lower deck. Making your way through the plane's seating area and galley, the space opens up into a spacious dancefloor, bar and DJ booth.

An incredible sound and lighting system has been fitted seamlessly amongst the plane's original features. I can just imagine how atmospheric the space would be by the evening.

The unique venue certainly has the wow factor if you are considering where to stage your next big event. Whatever the night entails, it is sure to be memorable, surrounded by such a special piece of aviation history

Since March 2022, Negus has been open to the public for tours as well as private functions. And it is now also fully licensed for wedding ceremonies for up to 88 guests. To find out more, visit the Negus 747 website here. .
