Inside Alison Hammond's weight loss journey as she sobs over This Morning caller's struggle

Alison Hammond is on a weight loss journey and she is looking better than ever.

The bubbly This Morning presenter, 47, has been on a mission to shed some weight over the last few years since becoming a Weight Watchers ambassador back in April 2019.

And earlier this week, she broke down on the ITV daytime show after she was left moved by a phone-in segment - where a woman had called in to admit she was worried about her teenage daughter as she didn't know how to help her with her eating disorder.

The former Big Brother star said she was very touched by the young woman's story, as she tried to hold in her tears.

Alison shared her own weight struggles and resonated with how the guest was feeling.

The TV star said: "Can I just say something? Obviously I've had - I'm getting upset - I've had obesity my whole life. And what it is, is your regulation system is out of whack. So obviously, you can't control wanting to eat all the time."

"And I think what a lot of people don't realise, is obesity is a disease. You can't help wanting to eat all the time," she added as she broke down in tears. She was comforted by Dermot and Deirdre as she added: "Sorry, I get - sorry.

"Because I think people look down at people just because they're so big and they can't actually help it if they've got a disease. When you're in it, it's difficult. You want to eat and you want all the bad things and you know you don't look right. Sorry, it touched me."

But mum-of-one Alison has come a long way on her weight loss journey.

She's been working hard in the gym lifting weights - and she has a personal trainer to keep her motivation in full swing.

When it comes to eating healthily, Alison enjoys dishes of chicken and spinach or beef mince and cauliflower rice, while she snacks on bananas or bowls of yogurt and berries.

But she also allows herself a few cheat days, and will have the occasional slice of chocolate cake to balance it all out.

At her heaviest Alison was 20 stone, though it's not clear what her weight is now.

She said her goal weight would be 13 stone, which is perfect for her 5'9" height.

Opening up about her weight loss goals, Alison previously said: "My WW journey is focused on getting healthier for myself.

"I feel rubbish when I don’t eat properly or exercise and WW helps me with what I eat and do.

"I want my journey to empower others to think about making changes to their lifestyle to become the best version of themselves."
