Adelaide firm DTEX has won the Cybersecurity category at the InnovationAus 2022 Awards for Excellence for its human-focused security solutions.
The InnovationAus 2022 Awards for Excellence were presented on Thursday night at a gala black-tie dinner at the Cutaway in Sydney’s Barangaroo district.
The Cybersecurity category recognised leading Australian tech companies helping the country become more cyber safe and secure.
Cybersecurity has never been more important, and has never been more of a mainstay around the dinner tables of everyday families around the country than it has now.
Significant breaches of major data holders Optus and Medibank have demonstrated the far reaching consequences that a cyber-attack can have, and the importance for companies of all shapes and sizes to focus on this field of their business.
DTEX does this through recognising that the vast majority of cyber breaches involve human error in some form, and quite often this is a simple and avoidable mistake.
The Verizon 2022 Data Breach Investigations Report found that more than 80 per cent of the analysed data breaches involved a human element. DTEX addresses this through its security and management software which focuses on the human side of the cybersecurity equation.
Its workforce cyber intelligence and security software is based on learning from employee behaviour, with an emphasis on privacy. This provides the answer of who, what, when, where and how in relation to potential insider threat situations in a company, a compromised account event or a potential data loss incident.
Based at Lot Fourteen in South Australia, DTEX’s Intercept product aims to stop insider threats, prevent data loss and protect remote employees in the workplace.
It was founded in 2014 by Mohan, and now has clients across the US, UK, Canada and Australia.
In Australia, its clients include the federal Department of Defence, a large telecommunications firm and a number of critical infrastructure providers.
Perth firm Sapien Cyber and Melbourne company Securestack were both highly commended in the category.
Sapien Cyber offers a multi-purpose threat management system providing the automated detection of security threats and vulnerabilities. Securestack helps its clients to quantify and improve their DevSecOps maturity by detecting problems in the software development lifecycle.
The InnovationAus 2022 Awards for Excellence were supported by: Investment NSW, AusIndustry, Australian Computer Society, Technology Council of Australia, Verizon, Mimecast, Microsoft Australia, Digital Health CRC (DHCRC), Agile Digital, METS Ignited, Innovation Manufacturing CRC (IMCRC), CSIRO, and Q-CTRL.
