Inmates Facing Attempted Murder Charges After Attacking Officers In Montana

Memphis Police officers arraigned on murder charges

Two inmates at a Montana county jail are facing attempted murder charges after allegedly attacking corrections officers with makeshift weapons over the weekend. Myron Scott Goes Ahead, 20, and Ashtin Zant Glen, 18, pleaded not guilty to the crime during virtual court appearances from the Yellowstone County jail on Tuesday.

Sheriff Mike Linder confirmed that the inmates' unprovoked attack against two officers on Saturday was captured on security cameras, although the footage has not been released to the public. Prosecutor Hojae Chung of the Yellowstone County Attorney's Office revealed during Tuesday's hearing that one of the inmates used a makeshift knife to repeatedly stab one of the officers in the back of the head, causing serious bleeding.

The injured officer was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment and was discharged later that night with expectations of a full recovery, as stated by the sheriff. Goes Ahead's bond was set at $1 million, while Glen's bond was set at $500,000. In addition to the attempted murder charges, both inmates are also facing additional weapons charges and could potentially face life imprisonment if convicted.

Goes Ahead was already in custody awaiting trial on two murder charges related to a shooting incident in Billings last year, resulting in the deaths of a man and a baby. The tragic event unfolded when Goes Ahead and another suspect allegedly stole ammunition from a sporting goods store and fired shots into a house, leading to the suffocation of the infant after being accidentally crushed during the chaos.

On the other hand, Glen was being held on various charges, including attempted murder, following a gunfight last year where he reportedly shot and injured a man. Glen is also accused of firing at deputies while attempting to flee the scene. The legal proceedings for both inmates are ongoing as they face the serious consequences of their alleged actions.
