Injury Report: Otto Poter Jr. exits Game 3 vs. Mavs with left foot soreness

During the second quarter of Game 3, the Golden State Warriors lost a key piece of their rotation due to injury. Otto Porter Jr. exited the contest against the Dallas Mavericks after suffering an apparent injury while finishing a contested layup at the bucket.

Porter Jr. appeared to be in pain after converting the bucket at the rim. Porter Jr. was subbed out of the contest after hobbling on the court.

Porter Jr. was ruled out for the remainder of the contest due to left foot soreness. Porter Jr.’s injury was the second foot injury he’s dealt with during the Warriors’ current playoff run. Porter. Jr missed Game 6 against the Grizzlies with soreness in his right foot.

Despite Porter Jr.’s X-Ray returning negative, Steve Kerr called the veteran’s foot injury “definitely concerning,” per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

The Warriors were still able to hold off the Mavericks without Porter Jr. for a 109-100 win on the road in Dallas. Porter Jr. finished the game with two points on 1-of-2 shooting from the floor with a rebound in seven minutes before leaving the game.

Outside of games where he’s made an early exit due to injury, Porter Jr. has registered double-figures in scoring in four consecutive contests. Without Porter Jr., the Warriors will have to continue to stretch out their bench. Juan Toscano-Anderson and Moses Moody received minutes off the bench in Game 3.

If Porter Jr. isn’t available for Golden State’s chance to close out in Game 4, Jonathan Kuminga, Nemanja Bjelica or Toscano-Anderson could see an increased role against the Mavericks.
