The New Orleans Saints face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night and both teams are dealing with significant injuries. Each storyline revolves around health. The first storyline is how limited will Trevor Lawrence be with a knee injury?
On one hand, the injury will limit Lawrence’s mobility. On the other, that likely means they’ll try to get the ball out quickly, which would negate the Saints pass rush. Carl Granderson has had a really good year and should be a big part of attacking Lawrence. Regardless the Jaguars’ star quarterback is injured, and it’s imperative the Saints take advantage of that.
The other storyline is the health of the Saints offensive line. James Hurst and Ryan Ramczyk are down with injury and so is Ramczyk’s backup, Landon Young. That leaves Cam Erving to start at right tackle, Max Garcia at left guard and Andrus Peat at left tackle this week. That’s a practice squad call up, third string left guard and your backup left guard playing left tackle. Yikes! It’s hard to see the offensive line performing well under those circumstances, but they don’t have a choice but to try.
