Injured Steelers linebacker returns to practice

It’s been a long time since Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Cole Holcomb has played any football. In fact it has been more than 13 months. But on Tuesday, Holcomb practiced. The Steelers opened his 21-day window to see if he can return to the 53-man roster this season or if he will remain inactive.

Holcomb suffered a brutal knee injury last season that cost him the final nine games and all of this season. Despite only playing eight games in 2023, Holcomb finished sixth on the team in total tackles.

There have been several points during the offseason and throughout this season when you had to wonder if Holcomb would play again much less this season. But instead of releasing Holcomb with an injury settlement, they stuck by him and it is great to see him back on the practice field even if Holcomb doesn’t end up able to play this season.
