Injured Saudi Tourists in Türkiye Accident Airlifted to the Kingdom

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.

The Saudi embassy in Türkiye, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, evacuated on Wednesday citizens who were injured in a traffic incident in Rize, northern Türkiye, to complete their treatment in the Kingdom.

Several people were injured when a tourist bus carrying 23 Saudis overturned in the Black Sea region of northern Türkiye on Saturday. The bus overturned after hitting a concrete barrier on the roadside in an agricultural area in Asmali Yarmak village.

Ramzan Yanik, head of Asmali Yarmak village, said that the driver used the brakes excessively on a slope, which made the bus overturn after hitting a concrete barrier on the right side.

He added that 23 passengers were rescued from the bus and the injured were rushed to the hospital after receiving first aid.

In a statement on Sunday, the Saudi embassy said that it was closely following up on the condition of the injured with the concerned Turkish authorities and the general consulate in Istanbul. It added that 18 tourists were injured in the accident, six of whom needed hospitalization.

On Saturday, Türkiye witnessed two other horrific traffic accidents, which killed at least 34 people, and injured 50 others. The two incidents occurred in Gaziantep and Mardin, in southeastern Türkiye, within a short interval of time.
