Injured Millie Bright pulls out of England squad as Lionesses call up Arsenal defender Lotte Wubben-Moy

England have suffered an injury blow with vice-captain Millie Bright ruled out of next month’s games against Brazil and Australia.

The Chelsea defender picked a knee problem playing for Chelsea in the first leg of their Women’s Champions League quarter-final against Lyon last week.

Bright has not played since then and has now pulled out of the England squad, with Arsenal’s Lotte Wubben-Moy replacing her.

England will have to cope without Bright for next Thursday’s Finalissima against Brazil and their friendly with Australia the following Tuesday. Bright will stay with Chelsea and undergo her rehabilitation with them.

Wubben-Moy’s call-up, who was part of the England squad that won Euro 2022 last summer, caps off a fine week for the Arsenal defender.

She came off the bench during the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final and impressed as Arsenal booked a place in the semi-finals.
