Injured Crows captain sent for scans

Rory Sloane hopes to be cleared to face Port Adelaide after being subbed out against Collingwood. (AAP)

Adelaide captain Rory Sloane is being sent for scans on an injured groin but holds hope of being fit for Friday night's AFL game against Port Adelaide.

Sloane was substituted out of Adelaide's loss to Collingwood on Saturday early in the final quarter.

"It was a little bit tender going into the game but first kick, something sort of tweaked in there," Sloane told reporters on Monday.

"But I was confident that I could play out the game or play a reasonable amount of the game.

"And then obviously when the game was done and dusted it was good to get Solly (substitute Jake Soligo) on.

"We will see how this pulls up over coming days but feeling reasonably confident."

The Crows expect dual club champion Rory Laird to return after missing the opening two games because of a broken hand as they prepare to meet Port, who also are yet to win this season.

"We just want to focus on getting our game right," Sloane said.

"We played a half and a bit of footy in round one and our ball movement on the weekend was solid but we let ourselves down around the contest and our ability to defend.

"So a Showdown is a perfect opportunity to bounce back."
