Infinity Nikki is an upcoming open-world dress-up game that has already garnered more than 12 million pre-registrations as it has been worked on by a designer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The news of the staggering number of pre-registrations was shared on X, previously known as Twitter.
The game is helmed by PaperGames with Kentaro Tominaga who had previously worked at Nintendo. On top of being the designer on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, he was also the director of the game's Expansion Pass.
Infinity Nikki's Huge Milestone
The latest milestone achieved by Infinity Nikki came alongside the team thanking everyone who has signed up so far.
In the statement, they said, "Look, some airborne friends are carrying Nikki across the vast sky with their blessings. Thank you to all the stylists for your support and enthusiasm!"
It was also noted that the team had "more surprises ahead" that they would reveal, and they urged everyone to aim for the next goal together. The next goal it was talking about was 20 million pre-registrations, according to Eurogamer.
Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad said that the previous game in the franchise had more than 100 million downloads. So far, there is no official release date for Infinity Nikki but it will reportedly be available on PlayStation, PC, Android, and iOS devices.
The latest look that fans had at the upcoming open-world dress-up game came during Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live. It featured a trailer that was accompanied by a highly catchy tune.
Infinity Nikki comes as Infold Games' follow-up to its highly successful series of mobile dress-up games that span more than a decade.
Many fans who had more than enough time to enjoy the mobile versions of previous games are excited for the upcoming entry in the series, said GamesRadar.
An Open-World Dress-Up Adventure
It doesn't seem like it would take long for Infinity Nikki to meet its next goal as there were reportedly more than 300,000 additional pre-registrations since the developers celebrated the 12 million milestone.
The debut trailer for the upcoming game also showed the main character Nikki traversing a vast open world in a myriad of different outfits. The announcement of Infinity Nikki came as a surprise to both fans and newcomers to the series.
There was a playable demo that came out in May earlier this year that showcased the fun and uniqueness of Infinity Nikki's open world. An essential part of the game's experience is changing outfits and visiting interesting locations, according to IGN.
