The Kentucky State Police have located the body of an infant believed to be 8-month-old Miya Tucker Rudd, who was reported missing in May. The decomposed body was discovered hidden inside the family's home in Reynolds Station, Kentucky, about 90 miles southwest of Louisville.
The investigation began when Miya's parents, Tesla Tucker and Cage C. Rudd, were arrested at a motel in Owensboro on drug charges. The parents were found in possession of a large amount of drugs, including fentanyl. Despite their arrest, they provided no information on the baby's whereabouts.
Following a search warrant and welfare check at the family's home, the infant was not found. However, on Friday, June 14, the baby's body was located in a concealed manner within the residence. The Ohio County Coroner's Office will take custody of the body for further examination at the Kentucky Medical Examiners Office in Louisville.
Authorities have charged Miya's grandfather, Ricky Smith, with drug crimes, child abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child. Miya's grandmother, Billie J. Smith, was also arrested on domestic violence charges. Additionally, Timothy Roach was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The investigation is ongoing, with the Kentucky State Police, Ohio County Coroner's Office, and Kentucky Medical Examiners Office working together to uncover the circumstances surrounding Miya's death. The parents remain in custody facing multiple charges, including first-degree trafficking in controlled substances and child abuse.
