Manchester United fans have taken aim at Erik ten Hag's team selection after the Reds went behind early on against Manchester City at the Etihad.
City started the brighter of the two teams and had plenty of possession in the opening stages. The Reds were offered a warning of what was to come when only last-ditch defending denied Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne opening the scoring.
United did not learn their lesson and went behind in the eighth minute to a Phil Foden strike. Patient play from the hosts eventually found Bernardo Silva on the left. His cross into the box picked out Foden unmarked and he slammed the ball into the roof of the net past David de Gea.

Ten Hag opted to play Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen in midfield, however, many fans have claimed that he should have played Casemiro instead of the Dane. Eriksen did not track back into the box to mark Foden and it cost the Reds dearly.
