Industrial estate in Scottish city taped off after 'bomb' discovered

ROADS at an industrial estate in Glasgow have been locked down due to the discovery of an explosive weapon. 

Police and the Scottish Ambulance Service were called to Burnbrae Drive at the Linwood Industrial Estate shortly after 9am this morning. 

One local business has been evacuated. 

It comes after a device - thought to be an old ordnance device - was found. 

It has not been revealed where exactly it was found.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.05am on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, police were called after a device - thought to be an old ordnance device - was found in Burnbrae Dr, Linwood.

"As a precaution, a cordon has been placed around the area and one local business has been evacuated. The EOD - Explosive Ordnance Department - has been made aware. Emergency services remain at the scene.

"Local roads in the area have been closed."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call today at 9.55am to attend an incident on Burnbrae Road, Linwood, and dispatched our special operations team (SORT) to the scene.”
