Indonesian R&B singer Niki to perform in Sept

Niki (stylised as NIKI), the Indonesian R&B sultry songstress of 88 Rising, who's currently based in the US, was supposed to make her Thailand debut much earlier at Very Festival Spring Break in 2020, along with her labelmate Joji. However, it got cancelled, thanks to Covid-19 but now it's confirmed that she's heading to Bangkok in September for a solo concert. Better late than never.

Brought to you by The Very Company, "Niki Live in Bangkok 2023" is scheduled at CentralPlaza Ladprao's BCC Hall on Sept 11.

Niki, whose real name is Nicole Zefanya, first came on the radar with her first EP Zephyr, which was released by 88rising in 2018 and praised by music publications such as Noisey and Complex. In 2019, she released her second EP Wanna Take This Downtown?, which includes Lowkey, her best-known song to date with more than 300 million Spotify streams. Its official visualiser, available on YouTube, is played in a mesmerising loop of Niki posing and sipping a smoky drink and, for some reason, is saturated in Ikea's blue and yellow.

Her debut album Moonchild dropped in 2020 and spawned three singles Lose, Switchblade and Selene while she also has memorable collab tracks with English electronic duo Honne and 88rising labelmate Rich Brian.

Niki also performed two tracks on Shang-Chi and The Legend Of The Ten Rings: The Album namely Always Rising and Every Summertime, the latter of which has garnered more than 270 million streams on Spotify before her sophomore album Nicole was released last August. Niki also spent last year going on a tour to perform 30 sold-out shows in major American cities.
