Indianapolis Colts star makes "scary" Anthony Richardson prediction

Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor has become the latest team-mate to give his backing to new quarterback Anthony Richardson - naming their potential offense as 'scary'.

After being the fourth overall draft pick to the Colts, Richardson looks surprisingly to be in line to be the day one starter - something not many saw as a likely option.

An incredibly raw prospect with high potential due to his extreme athleticism and right arm, Richardson has shown all the tools to be a game-changing player, but has only done so in a 13-game sample size. And while there was a lot of good in Richardson's one season of starting at Florida, there were times were he struggled and was almost benched at one point.

But the Colts are seemingly all-in on giving Richardson the chance to be the day one starter, and while they expect it to be a bumpy ride with his unexpected play, the offense will be a tough one to defend against with all of their offensive weapons as well as the quarterback's ability to run the football - entering the league as one of the biggest and fastest at the position.

After the Colts' general manager, head coach and offensive captain all gave their backing to Richardson, their star running back has done the same.

Speaking to SI, Taylor said: "If you look at his skill set, the sky’s the limit for him. Now it’s all about coming in and absorbing the coaching aspect of it. He has to absorb the little nuggets of knowledge that our veterans are going to offer him.

"I know that’s what helped me when I was a rookie in this league. That’s how I came into my own. If he does that, the sky’s the limit for Anthony Richardson.

"You look at the guys that are in the league now. He reminds me of Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson. Looking at the size component, you’d throw Cam Newton in there as well. He’s a physical threat.

"Like I mentioned earlier, as long as he comes in willing to absorb the information, it’s going to get real scary out there on the field for opposing defenses."

Richardson will be the Colts' sixth different quarterback in as many seasons - after Jacoby Brissett, Philip Rivers, Carson Wentz and Matt Ryan all failing to hold the spot.
