It was reported on Friday by Aaron Wilson of KPRC2-Houston that the Indianapolis Colts worked out offensive tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr.

Workouts typically take place earlier in the week for NFL teams but are a common weekly occurrence for every ball club.
Just because a workout was had does not mean that a signing is imminent. In some instances, with many teams routinely churning the back end of the practice squad, organizations are always on the look out for higher upside upgrades.
On other occasions, teams are just checking in with certain players to update their in-season free agent big boards so if a quick addition is needed at a certain position, there are few options that they can reach out to.
Wheatley went undrafted in 2021 out of Morgan State. Fitting the mold of other Chris Ballard additions, Wheatley was listed as a tight end in college, according to Pro Football Focus.
Listed at 6-6 – 320 pounds, Wheatley doesn’t have any NFL regular season snaps on offense and has played just five total special teams snaps in his career.
He has spent time with Chicago, Las Vegas, Cleveland, and New England.
Given that the Indianapolis Colts practice squad is currently at full capacity, if an addition is made at some point–and again, we do not know if that will be the case with Wheatley–a corresponding cut would have to be made in order to make room for him.
