Indianapolis Colts place S Trevor Denbow on injured reserve

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that they have placed safety Trevor Denbow on injured reserve.

The corresponding move to fill Denbow’s spot on the active roster was that the Indianapolis Colts also signed Ronnie Harrison from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

On the opening kickoff of Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, Denbow exited with what was ruled a knee injury. The Colts then ruled him out for the remainder of the game.

The Indy Star’s Joel Erickson would report that Denbow suffered injuries to multiple ligaments and cartilage in his knee.

Denbow has once again been a core special teams contributor for the Colts. After finishing third on the team in special teams snaps in 2023, Denbow ranked fourth in that category this season, playing across five of the six different special teams phases.

Now on the active roster at the safety position are Nick Cross and Julian Blackmon as the starters, along with Rodney Thomas and Ronnie Harrison for depth.

Harrison will presumably fill in for Denbow as a primary special teams contributor, although replacing Denbow in that phase of the game may end up a collective effort, given the number of units he started on.
