Indianapolis Colts injury update: QB Anthony Richardson inactive vs. Titans

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson will not be available for the team’s Week 6 matchup with the Tennessee Titans, according NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Ian Rapoport added that Richardson was not 100 percent healthy so the Colts will give him another week to get to that point. He will serve as the team’s emergency third quarterback if needed.

“Anthony Richardson dressing as the No. 3 QB shows he’s close to returning to action,” said Pelissero. “But everyone erring on the side of caution. Another week of Joe Flacco.”

Richardson missed last week’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with an oblique injury that he sustained the week prior on a hit to his hip area against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This week, things did seemed  to be trending in the right direction for Richardson. In addition to practicing all three days–as he did last week–he was a full participant in Thursday’s practice, which was not the case a week ago.

Again, perhaps another sign that Richardson is close to returning.

On Wednesday, Richardson spoke with the media and discussed what boxes he would need to check in order to be available for this game.

“Just making sure I can do what I do on the field,” Richardson said. “Making sure I’m putting myself in the best position, putting the team in the best position. Try not to force anything. Try not to rush anything. If I’m not 100 percent, I’m not 100 percent, but it is what it is. I’m going to try to be the best version of myself.”

Over the last two games, Flacco has completed 70 percent of his passes at 7.5 yards per attempt with five touchdowns and no interceptions. This includes a 359 yard performance a week ago in Jacksonville.

This week, the Colts face a Titans’ defense that hasn’t given up a lot of yards, ranking 10th in yards per rush and second in yards per pass attempt.
