Two Indiana men were sent to prison for brutally beating a 56-year-old man to death after the victim made a comment about a woman's legs.

On May 14, 2023, Bryan Ward was attacked in Indianapolis after making a remark about a woman. The comment enraged 31-year-old Vincent McCurtis, who viewed the woman as his "sister," according to the Mirror.

McCurtis, along with 24-year-old Brandon Jackson, reportedly pursued Ward as he attempted to leave, leading to a fatal assault. Witnesses reported that McCurtis was intent on killing Ward, repeatedly shouting threats and even suggesting drowning him in a bathtub.

Ward was found severely beaten at a home by Indianapolis police. Despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, he died the next day from his injuries.

Witnesses, including the woman whose legs were the subject of Ward's comment, cooperated with police.

McCurtis reportedly told the woman, "This is what I do," before carrying out the attack, according to an affidavit obained by Law&Crime. After the assault, he allegedly boasted about his actions and intended to parade Ward's lifeless body in front of others.

Following the attack, police arrested McCurtis and Jackson, both of whom initially denied involvement. Their charges were upgraded from attempted murder to murder upon Ward's death.

McCurtis was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 79 years in prison, while Jackson was convicted of reckless homicide and received a five-year sentence.
