Indiana Man Shot By Police During Domestic Disturbance

Indiana State Police

Indiana State Police reported that a 42-year-old man from Connersville was shot and wounded by police after he fired at officers responding to a domestic disturbance call. The incident occurred late Wednesday night when officers from the Connersville Police Department and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a residence in Connersville.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a female had exited the home, but the male suspect remained inside. Despite attempts to communicate with the man, he refused to surrender and exit the home, prompting the deployment of a SWAT team.

According to state police, the man emerged from the home carrying a rifle and pointed it at officers in a threatening manner. After ignoring commands to drop the weapon, tear gas was deployed into the home. The man then fired at officers, prompting them to return fire before losing sight of him.

Subsequently, the man reappeared at the front door armed with the rifle, leading officers to shoot him at least once. Following the exchange, he was located inside the home using a drone and was then removed for medical treatment.

The wounded man was transported to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, where his current condition remains unknown. Indiana State Police are conducting an investigation into the shooting to gather further details about the incident.
