Indian School Certificate exam: Bihar’s second toppers eye admission in DU

PATNA: Krishna Dhandhania of Carmel High School and Sanskriti Khandelwal of St Joseph’s Convent High School emerged the joint second toppers, along with Piyush Dokania of St Joseph’s School, Bhagalpur, in the Indian School Certificate (ISC) Class XII examination conducted by the the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The results were declared on Sunday.

While Krishna secured 98.75% in the commerce stream with perfect 100 in mathematics and commerce, 98 in English and 97 in economics, Sanskriti scored 98.75% in the arts stream.

Krishna wants to become a chartered account. Daughter of Mausam Dhandhania, a businessman, and Priyanka Dhandhania, a homemaker, Krishna said her score in the CUET will decide which college she gets admission in as she would prefer any of the top 5 Delhi University (DU) colleges to pursue BCom course.

Sanskriti wants to become a researcher and looking forward to getting admission in DU. “I want to do BA (Hons) in English from DU and has written CUET. I am hoping to get admission either in Lady Shri Ram College or Miranda House,” Sanskriti told TOI.

Born to Vijay Khandelwal, a businessman, and Soni Khandelwal, a homemaker, Sanskriti gives credit to her teachers and parents for her academic achievement. “There was so much uncertainty due to the pandemic. Online classes were held and the board changed the exam pattern. But the teachers helped me a lot,” she said.

Tamanna Agarwal, also from Carmel High School, scored 98.25% in arts stream and aim to become an IAS officer. She scored 99 in geography, 98 each in economics, mathematics and English. She wants to do BA (Hons) in economics from eithe Hindu College or St Stephen’s College under DU. Tamanna said she studied for eight hours a day and also took tuitions for securing good marks.

“Last year was quite challenging for all students,” said the daughter of Anup Agarwal, a businessman, and Khushboo Agarwal, a homemaker.

Don Bosco Academy’s student Aditya Sarthak secured 97.25% in science stream. “Now, I am focusing on Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main second round. I got 99.87 percentile in my first round. I am also preparing for the JEE Advanced to get admission in any IIT,” he said. Sarthak wants to become a software engineer and wants to do computer science and engineering (CSE) from IIT-Delhi. His father Sunil Kumar is a professor at IIT-Roorkee’s CSE branch. Sarthak’s mother Sangeeta Sinha is a homemaker. He told TOI that only relied on teachers’ notes, self-study and tutorial classes on YouTube channel.
