He also shared the exciting news of India's dual victory at the Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary, with an enthusiastic crowd of around 13,000 people at Nassau Veterans Coliseum.
Modi, who was reelected in June after a massive election process involving over 640 million votes, emphasized the significance of the year 2024 for the world. He noted the global conflicts and tensions while celebrating the spirit of democracy, highlighting the unity between India and the United States in this democratic celebration.
His appearance in New York followed his participation in a summit hosted by President Joe Biden in Delaware, where leaders of the Quad, including Australia and Japan, were present. Modi also accepted the return of 297 antiquities stolen or trafficked from India, adding to the nearly 600 cultural artifacts returned by the U.S. to India since 2016.
