New Delhi: A 20-year-old Indian-origin student of University of Pittsburgh has been missing since March 5 while on a trip to the Dominican Republic.
'Believed to have died'
Sudiksha Konanki is believed to have died by drowning, ABC News, which is the news division of the American television network ABC, reported citing officials.
Three Dominican officials involved in the investigation told ABC News that Konanki was walking on the beach with six people on March 5 before she is believed to have drowned in the ocean.

Indian Embassy in Dominican Republic issues statement
The Indian Embassy in the Dominican Republic, in a statement, said their officials are in touch with her parents and extending all assistance.
"An Indian national, who is studying in the United States, is missing since 6 March 2025 while on her vacation to Puntacana in the Dominican Republic. Embassy is in touch with her parents and extending all assistance in coordination with government authorities of the Dominican Republic," the Embassy said in a post on X.
She and one other person stayed on the beach while the rest went to their hotel on the night of 5 March.

Notably, the Indian Embassy in Dominican Republic has not confirmed her death.
Besides, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, in a statement, said: "My administration is working closely with federal and local partners as the search continues for Sudiksha Konanki."
Konanki is a studemt of University of Pittsburgh, where she is studying biological sciences and chemistry.
The local police has been carrying out the search operation to locate Sudiksha Konanki, who was last seen on the beach of the Riu Republica Hotel in Punta Cana.
