The Central leadership of the Indian National League (INL) has served showcause notices on its dissident leaders A. P. Abdul Wahab and Nasar Koya Thangal for gross violation of party discipline.
Both the leaders have been asked to reply within seven days to the charges of openly defying the decision of the national executive to dissolve the State council, working committee, and secretariat and attempting to split the State unit for creating new factions and groups with ulterior motives.
The show-cause issued by INL national president Mohammad Suleman said Mr. Wahab had proclaimed himself as the president of the Kerala unit and without the consent of the newly constituted ad hoc committee or the national executive had called a meeting of the so-called State council on February 17 by misusing the name and flag of the party.
Mr. Suleman noted that the ad hoc committee was put in charge of the party affairs of the State and the disciplinary proceedings against them earlier had been withdrawn following an apology expressed by them before the national executive.
The ad hoc committee had also submitted its recommendations to take appropriate disciplinary actions against them on the grounds of insubordination to the national leadership and their anti-party activities, he said. On a preliminary enquiry, Mr. Suleman said there were reasonable grounds to initiate disciplinary action against them.
