India marked its 76th Republic Day with a grand parade in New Delhi, showcasing the country's military prowess and cultural diversity. The event, held on January 26th, commemorates the adoption of India's Constitution in 1950, following independence from British colonial rule.
Tens of thousands of spectators gathered along Rajpath Avenue to witness the parade, which featured soldiers from India's military and paramilitary forces marching alongside colorful floats representing the nation's rich cultural heritage. One float highlighted the Maha Kumbh festival, known as the world's largest religious gathering.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was the guest of honor at the event, accompanied by India's president and prime minister. For the first time, a 342-member band and marching contingent from the Indonesian National Armed Forces participated in the parade, symbolizing the strong ties between the two nations.
The parade included a diverse cultural performance with over 5,000 artists showcasing traditional dances and music from different regions of India. The display of domestically built defense equipment, including tanks, radar systems, and missile systems, highlighted India's military capabilities.
