India's navy showcased its commitment to maritime security by launching a submarine, a destroyer, and a frigate simultaneously at a state-run shipyard in Mumbai. This move highlights the strategic importance of safeguarding the Indian Ocean region, through which 95% of India's trade flows, amidst a growing Chinese presence.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the evolving significance of the Indian Ocean region, stating that India is prioritizing strengthening its navy to protect its interests. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the commissioning of the naval vessels as a significant step towards realizing India's vision of becoming a global leader in defense manufacturing and maritime security.

The INS Vagsheer submarine, part of the Kalvari-class built under a French license, aims to modernize India's submarine fleet and enhance its maritime capabilities. With a total of 16 submarines now in its fleet, India is showcasing its expertise in submarine construction through collaborations with international partners.

India is set to acquire three additional Scorpene submarines, further bolstering its naval capabilities. The country recently commissioned its first indigenous aircraft carrier, the INS Vikrant, to counter China's expanding naval presence in the region. This aircraft carrier, named after the Sanskrit word for 'powerful' or 'courageous,' signifies India's commitment to enhancing its indigenous shipbuilding capabilities.
