Independent Sen. Angus King has secured re-election to the U.S. Senate in Maine, as announced by The Associated Press on Thursday. King, who aligns with the Democrats, emerged victorious in a competitive race, expressing his eagerness to resume his duties in the Senate.
During his declaration of victory on Wednesday, King conveyed his optimism about the future, stating, 'I’m feeling very positive about this. I’ve already heard that this morning from a number of my colleagues, including some Republican colleagues, who are looking forward to working together to try and move forward with a positive agenda for the country.'
King's primary opponent, Republican Demi Kouzounas, garnered approximately 34% of the support as of Wednesday, trailing behind the incumbent senator.
As the political landscape unfolds, Republicans are anticipated to reclaim the majority in the Senate. Meanwhile, voters in Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania are still awaiting the final outcomes of their respective Senate races.
