An independent Perth prep-school has received full marks from Education Scotland following a recent visit by inspectors.
The report, published on March 7, highlights a wide range of strengths at Craigclowan School and Nursery, including the “highly effective leadership of the school” and “high levels of attainment and achievement across the school”.
Craigclowan pupils are described as “enthusiastic, confident, hardworking and articulate children who demonstrate kindness to each other”.
Pupils are, Education Scotland states, “highly motivated by memorable and exciting learning experiences and are rightly very proud of their school and pre-school”.
During the visit to the school the inspection team spent time talking to parents and children as well as working closely with staff.
Among the highlights of the education which Craigclowan provides, the inspectors praised the “exceptional quality of the relationships between children and staff” which they say means that “children feel safe, respected and valued as individuals”.
The report adds: “The dedicated staff team have a shared focus on nurture, inclusion and providing the right level of support for all children.
“Children at all stages are supported to be successful. Their individual strengths and talents are recognised and nurtured by staff.”
The report also emphasises the “strong sense of community” at the school saying “teamwork ensures that all staff play an important role in the life of Craigclowan”.
Mrs Liz Henderson, head of Craigclowan School and Nursery, welcomed the report’s overwhelmingly positive feedback, saying this was a reflection of the commitment of every member of staff at the school.
“The report pinpoints what sets a Craigclowan education apart and my thanks go to our outstanding team of staff,” she said.
“Everyone in our close school community will be delighted to see this endorsement of our commitment to an exceptional learning experience - academically and beyond the classroom - and of our dedication to consistent self-improvement.
“These are exciting times for Craigclowan.”
