Independent book shops in Scotland named finalists for British Book Awards 2025

SEVERAL Scottish book shops have been named among the best in the whole of the UK after being listed as finalists for the British Book Awards 2025.

The entries featured were listed in the region and country category of the awards and highlighted as "trusted curators" of all things literary.

A record number of submissions were received this year with 72 independent bookshops being acknowledged across the nine areas.

Meryl Halls, managing director at Booksellers UK, said the finalists have helped foster communities of like-minded individuals and have brought local jobs and essential footfall to our high streets.

She added that the role independent bookshops play within the book trade and wider society is "more vital" than ever.

She said: "We are delighted to see this superb selection of finalists, and their invaluable contribution, recognised as cornerstones of the book industry.”

The regional and country winners of the Independent Bookshop of the Year award will be announced on Tuesday, March 11.
