Mumbai: Spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin helped India reduce New Zealand to 171/9 on the Day 2 in the third and the final Test being played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
At stumps, Ajaz Patel was at the craese at his individual score of 7 while William O'Rourke yet to face his first ball. The visitots were leading by 143 runs.
Ind scores 263 in 1st innings
Earlier in the day, the hosts were bowled out for 263 runs, taking a crucial 28 runs lead over New Zealand.
For India, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant played 90 and 60 runs innings respectively.

Kiwi spinner Ajaz Patel took five wickets haul after conceding 103 runs in 21.4 overs.
NZ's second innings
New Zealand got off to a bad in their second innings as they lost first wicket in the form of Tom Latham when the team's total was 2 runs.
Later, Devon Conway and Will Young made sure vistors did not suffer further damage, reducing India's lead to 2 runs till Tea. Kiwis would take the lead soon after the restart but Conway and Rachin Ravindra got out in quick succession.
Young and Daryl Mitchell added 50-run for the fourth wicket. Mitchell was caught by Ashwin off Jadeja's bowling, bringing India back into the contest.

Soon Jadeja dismissed Tom Blundell, reducing New Zealand to 100 for 5.
Glenn Phillips scored quick 26 off 13 balls. He hit 2 sixes off Ashwin's over but he could not play the carrom ball well and got dismissed.
Soon, Jadeja dimissed Ish Sodhi (8) before Ashwin removed Will Young for 51 runs.
Matt Henry and Ajaz Patel stitched together a partership of 21 runs for the fourt wicket before the former was dismissed for 10 by Jadeja.
New Zealand has already won the three-match Test series by getting an unassailable lead of 2-0.
