'Incredibly unlucky' bride in floods of tears as snow threatens dream wedding

A bride-to-be has been left in floods of tears over fears she will have to cancel her dream wedding due to the snow.

The anxious bride who lives in "a hilly part of Yorkshire" thought she would have to be "incredibly unlucky" to see snow on her big day.

But just days out from the wedding heavy snow is forecast - and the recent downpour across the country will likely do little to settle her nerves. If the weather does not change the bride fears neither the registrar nor her guests will make it to her nuptials on Saturday, December 17.

Her sad story came to light after she took to Mumsnet desperate for advice on what she should do to try and "salvage the day".

In her post, the bride explained the "unlucky" couple are expecting 150 guests, with friends and family set to travel from across the UK for their special day. She added that she did not expect snow at this time of the year, as she has lived in the same spot for 20 years and can only remember a handful of white Christmases.

"I'm literally sitting here in floods of tears, have been refreshing the forecast and it’s getting worse and worse!!" she wrote in a message shared last week. "My hair will look s*** but I’m more worried about my skin as I have bad acne and was relying on the makeup to cover it. We have 150 guests coming, 99% inc family are travelling over 100 miles. I feel like cancelling now but we've paid everything."

Unfortunately, she's unsure if the wedding can go ahead, even if the couple hold off cancelling plans. She explained: "The forecast is for heavy snow!! I can't believe we can be so unlucky. I'm anticipating that there might be problems with the registrar, photographer, make up and hair, band all getting there (if there end up being any guests)," before asking for advice.

Luckily, there is still hope, though. Mumsnet users suggested the bride might be able to make suitable arrangements as she has time on her side.

Offering advice, one person said: "Talk to registra and photographer etc and see what their snow plan is. Your photographer will most likely be thrilled. Get yourself a pair of wellies or snow boots and try and find a fax fur shrug."

Another suggested: "All you really need is the registrar! Maybe make some playlists in case the band can’t get there and ask a bridesmaid to practice back up hair. But you can't change snow, and it sounds like a nice feature in a wedding so just embrace it!"

And a third commenter wrote: "Sorry snow causes you so much upset. Hopefully everything turns out fine and you will have a lovely snowy wedding."

The bride also received less helpful responses to her post, and she was forced to defend herself against commenters who accused her of acting like a "bridezilla".

She wrote: "I'm not a bridezilla but for me a special part of a wedding is enjoying the day with everyone you love and I can't believe people wouldn't feel the slightest disappointment if their plans didn't work out. Nor am I obsessed with the way I look but as I've said before, I am self conscious about my skin as it’s pretty awful so the makeup is a big thing for me."

Thankfully, it looks like she took comfort from the majority of responses, which prompted the bride to make emergency arrangements. In her latest update shared on Saturday, the bride said she had purchased products recommended by her makeup artist, in case she can't make it to the event.

"One of our guests is actually a wedding photographer and is going to bring their camera as back up," she added. "I've also made a playlist for the evening. Not much more I can do to prep I don't think!"

Here's hoping the wedding goes off without a stitch - our best wishes to the happy couple.
