Riot Games has announced all of the skins that will be coming to Valorant as part of the Episode 3, Act II battlepass, with a Vandal, Phantom and Operator skin all being included in a Battlepass for the first time.
The battlepass skins coming as part of Episode 3 Act II include three main sets, the Artisan set, the Nitro set and the Varnish set. Some skins will be available free for all players provided they hit certain levels in the battlepass, while others will only be unlockable for those who spend the 1000 VP on the battlepass.
The Artisan set includes skins for the Ghost, which will be available for free, the Phantom, Marshal, Bucky and a melee skin. This set makes the weapons look like they are made out of porcelain, and come in multiple colors. While the designs may look a little basic, the style plays well into the theme of the porcelain weapons, and they do have a cool appearance.
Those who want some slightly brighter skins will like the Nitro set, which features bright colours being plastered onto some of the larger weapons in Valorant. The set features skins for the Operator, Vandal, Guardian and Odin, meaning this will no doubt be a set that you see in a lot of your games.
The final set is the Varnish set, which clads some weapons in an almost wooden style cover making them look like something you may see in an old school hunting shop. The set includes Sheriff, Judge, Stinger and Bulldog skins, and look pretty good all things considered.
“This is the first battlepass to feature a Phantom, Vandal and Operator skin,” said Sean Marino, Art Lead on the Battlepass. “Artisan and Varnish should feel like they’re made of luxury high-end materials, while Nitro is very graphic and flashy. For the accessories, we tried to incorporate a lot more jokes and memes into this battlepass, especially since players really seemed to enjoy some of the more meme stuff we’d put into others.”
As always the battlepass also includes a ton of other goodies such as gun buddies, player cards and sprays, some of which are designed to expand upon the Valorant lore. The premium content team always gets hyped about these kinds of things, but this time it seems that they really do have some cool options included in the battlepass.
“There’s a few sprays and cards inspired by community jokes or memes, but I’ll let the community guess which ones those are,” said Preeti Khanolkar, Senior Producer on the battlepass. “The Follow Me Buddy is probably the best buddy we’ve ever put in a battlepass, so I suggest paying close attention to it. The Versus // Phoenix + Phoenix card is a really satisfying card to add since it ties back to the cinematic we released a few months ago and it’s something we’ve hinted at in a previous battlepass through the Broken Mirrors card.”
