Incredible footage captures terrifying moment lightning bolt strikes newly built home

The moment lightening struck a newly built home in the middle of a construction site has been caught on camera.

The footage, released by firefighters dealing with the aftermath of the tumultuous weather, captured the lightning bolt hitting the top of the roof of the new property, in Redruth, Cornwall.

The video also captured the noise as the lightening hits, with the sounds reverberating around the estate and sparks can be seen cascading down the roof of the house, Cornwall Live reports.

The incredible clip was posted online by the Tolvaddon Community Fire and Rescue station in Camborne with crews called out to the incident early in the afternoon on Monday, September 5.

A spokesman for the fire station said that thankfully no-one had been hurt in the incident.

But they reminded residents to be more specific with directions when calling the fire service out as the crew struggled to find the location.

In its Facebook post, the firefighters said: "Crews around the county are currently dealing with numerous incidents involving lightning strikes.

"Here's one which crews from Tolvaddon have visited this afternoon.

"Crews had difficulty locating the incident, please consider using 'what 3 words' in addition to the address when reporting an incident."

The station sent out two pumps and the duty officer to deal with the incident.

Their spokesman added: "Fortunately nobody was hurt, the incident occurred in the Redruth area and there was slight fire damage to the buildings."

Last month, a two-year-old boy luckily escaped a freak lightning strike alive after his bedroom was set alight by the bolt.

Miles Brooks was collected by his mother Claire just hours before his dad's home was blown to bits in a devastating electrical storm.

The tot’s room was the first to burn.

His mum, a local radio presenter, says he would normally have been tucked up in bed and would not have stood a chance.
