Incredible Crysencio Summerville stat highlights impact of Liverpool winner

An incredible statistic about Crysencio Summerville's late winner last night against Liverpool has been revealed after Leeds United's 2-1 win at Anfield.

Summerville's goal came after an awful back-pass from Joe Gomez saw Rodrigo through on goal with an open net in front of him to give the Whites the lead before Mohamed Salah equalised for Liverpool on the stroke of halftime.

It was then a Wilfried Gnonto cross that found Patrick Bamford in the box, who flicked it into the path of Summerville who calmly slotted the ball past Alisson to send the travelling fans in raptures.

In a tweet posted after the match, sports data page OptaJoe showed that Summerville's late winner was in fact the latest at Anfield in over ten years. They said:

"2012 - Crysencio Summerville's 89th minute winner for Leeds was the latest winning goal scored against Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League since Robin van Persie's 90th minute strike for Arsenal in March 2012. Cautioned."

Van Persie, who had also scored the equaliser in Arsenal's 2-1 win that day, sunk Kenny Dalglish's Reds to leave them 10 points adrift of the Premier League top four.

This present result, however, leaves Liverpool eight points away from fourth-place Newcastle but only four points in front of the Whites, who escaped the relegation zone this weekend.
