Incoming Rangers transfer signing Igamane injury blamed for club losing league

Incoming Rangers star Hamza Igamane's absence has been named as the reason his Moroccan club failed to retain their title this season by manager Nasreddine Nabi.

Rangers seem set to secure the 21-year-old Far Rabat talent in a deal reported to be worth £1.5million as Philippe Clement continues his rebuild.

Igamane scored seven goals in 16 starts this season, but has been missing with an unnamed injury since the end of April and his last game was against Hassania Agadir where he was subbed off.

Far Rabat lost their title this season to Raja Casablanca, who won the league by a point.

And Tunisian boss Nabi reckoned missing Igamane in the title run-in cost them.

He said: "We suffered from a large number of injuries in the final matches and that ultimately cost us.

"For example, we were missing Hamza Igamane, along with other important players, Hamzou Sawabi, Khaled Ait Orkhan, who are the backbone of my team.

"It's not just their skills, but tactically they are all important to us.

"We suffered a lot due to the loss of those important players."

Igamane has scored 13 goals in total in the 36 starts he's made for the club in the league before setting off for a new adventure in Scotland.
