Incident on Glasgow Central and Rutherglen train line sparks emergency service response

Emergency services are dealing with an incident on the train line between Glasgow Central and Rutherglen this morning.

Scotrail advised emergency services have been called to the scene between the Central Station low level and the South Lanarkshire town.

Details of the incident and an exact location have yet to be disclosed and Glasgow Live have contacted British Transport Police for further comment.

Several train services have been cancelled, delayed or revised.

Scotrail Tweeted at 10.12am on Monday: "We have emergency services dealing with an incident between Glasgow Central low level and Rutherglen.

"We are working closely with them during this time and will keep you updated."

They shortly after confirmed: "Train services between Cumbernauld and Dalmuir via Motherwell Dalmuir and Larkhall and Dalmuir and Whifflet will be cancelled, delayed or revised."

UPDATE: British Transport Police have confirmed they are at the station in response to a report of a casualty on the tracks.
